Artwork now showing

Josie's Art Blog #2  February 28, 2020

I believe that art is universal in its intervention for healing the spirit and has the capacity to change the way we view the world and ourselves in it.
Art in many forms connects us with others, brings a smile to our face or brings us to tears. Nature and the plight of the bee population has informed and inspired some of my work. Even the shape of the hexagon found in the honeycomb has qualities of organization, structure and efficiency...qualities I value.

Encaustic, Paste Papers, and More!

Ignite Your Creativity at 2KatStudios, Prescott, AZ
With Guest Artists Al and Josie Rodriguez
March 28-29, 2020

Ignite your creativity: A magical weekend where paste paper and encaustic merge.
Join us for a weekend of creative exploration and fun, with two popular Southern California teachers, Al and Josie Rodriguez.
Al will show you how to make your own handmade tools for the paste paper designs you will make later that day. (And by the way, paste paper is sort of finger painting for adults!)

Josie will teach you the basics of encaustic painting, a very seductive and luminous art medium using hot beeswax and pigment.
You will use some of the stunning paste papers you have made on Saturday, as inspiration for your encaustic pieces you’ll create on Sunday.
You will leave this weekend workshop with beautiful, unique art pieces that you can enjoy, give as gifts, or display at home.
This weekend workshop takes place at 2KatStudios, a light-filled spacious studio in Prescott, Arizona. Address provided upon registration.
Bring a sack lunch or plan on going out locally.

Al and Josie live in San Diego, and have taught book arts and encaustic painting from their home studios in Mission Hills for over 10 years.
